5 Facebook Tips for Your Business

Navigating the social media world for your business can sometimes be daunting and confusing. What should I post? Who should I be friends with? Am I crossing the line between business and personal?  Those are all important questions. The thing to keep in mind is that everything you do, Facebook, direct mail, email or a meeting in person, is promoting you and your business. Facebook is just another avenue to promote yourself, and there are some tactful and non-intrusive ways to do so.

Here are some helpful tips that can help you navigate this new world.

1. Invite all of your colleagues, friends, and clients to be your friends

2. Only post pictures that you wouldn’t mind the world seeing. If you are savvy enough you can post any and all pictures and just give permission to specific people.

3. Be a “thought” leader and add value to your friends. Post links to relevant news stories, tips, events, helpful websites, etc.

4. Write on the walls of new friends.

5. Be actively engaged in a thoughtful and caring way. When you see a picture that you like don’t be afraid to write a comment.

Keep in mind…Facebook is really hot and it’s not going away anytime soon. It’s better to get on the band wagon sooner rather than later. So have fun and don’t take yourself too seriously!
