How to find "Friends" on Facebook via Outlook
Hello there! Are you not able to find your 3rd grade crush on Facebook? Welcome to the club. Unfortunately, unless you have their email it is going to be a very difficult to locate that cutie. The good news is if you do have their email it can be a lickety split process.
The first way I recommend to locate your long lost Friends is too use the traditional methods that Facebook suggests. Such as, pulling directly from your Yahoo!, Gmail, and MSN accounts. There is an Outlook app that you can install but if you are like me you would rather save the space on your hard drive and just upload a contact file. Below are the steps to find your Friends using your Outlook database.
The simple steps to get ‘er done! (This should work for Windows 2003 and newer.)
- Click on Contacts in Outlook
- Go to File
- Go to Import and Export
- Choose Outlook
- Choose Export to a file – hit NEXT
- Choose Comma Seperated Values (DOS or Windows) – hit NEXT
- Select your “Contacts” folder – hit NEXT
- Browse and choose where you would like to save it. Give it a name you won’t forget.
– hit NEXT - Now hit – FINISH (You can map fields, if you want but the default always works for me.)
Now go to Facebook…
- Login into Facebook (I know, unfortunately I have to say that.)
- Go to Friends
- Go to Find Friends
- Now the tricky part. Go to Upload Contact File. See picture below. (Upper right hand corner)
- Click on Upload Contact File
- Now click on “Choose File”
- From there Facebook will browse your CSV file and help you find your new/old friends! Using any and all email addresses you had in your database.
This process will work with any other program you can export from. If it only allows you to export to Excel go in after the export and do a “Save As” and select CSV.
I hope you found this helpful! Happy Friend Finding to you!
See you on Facebook!
