How to get more "Friends", "Fans", and "Followers"
I have the great fortune of speaking with business owners everyday about their marketing plan and how to use Social Media to grow their businesses. And I absolutely LOVE educating them on how to navigate the world of social media and how to get their brand out into the market place.
The first thing you need to keep in mind when you are trying to get more “Friends” on Facebook is NOT to SELL on your personal page. Sorry for the caps, but I really cannot stress that enough. People don’t want to be “Friends” with you so you can sell to them. They want to get to know who you are, what you like and don’t like, where you went on vacation, how many kids you have, etc. For the most part they do not care about what you do in the professional world. They want to connect with you on a personal level. So to get more “Friends” and to keep your “Friends” be authentic and don’t be that cheesy sales person that ultimately gets on everyone’s nerves.
Now growing your “Fan” and “Follower” base I believe this is a different story. First and foremost you need to be a resource. (Let me be clear, I am talking about building your businesses “Follower” base on Twitter. Not your personal “Follower” base.)
So how can you be a resource and get more “Fans” and “Followers”:
- Connect your followers with great articles/links that pertain to your business and that are going to add value to their life or business
- Offer them special promotions because they are your “Fan” and/or “Follower”
- Make them feel special
- Get their feedback
- Support their businesses
- Let them know about Educational Events
Social Media marketing is all about the “Law of Attraction”. What you put it in and give back will come back to you. If you go in with the attitude, “What am “I” going to get out of this?” you are going to be very disappointed and you won’t last long. If you are truly adding value and coming from a place of service your efforts will be recognized and your business with grow. That is what your intentions have to be otherwise it will be a long hard road.
I encourage you to go out there and be a resource! Give back and watch your business grow.
Hope you found this to be resourceful. LOL ~ Trish
