Tips on Writing and Starting a Blog
Most small business owners I know dread the word “Blog”. They know it is something they should be doing but they just
can’t seem to find the time to do it. I understand, as a small business owner myself I to have to make a conserted effort to blog. The good news is it does get easier over time. I promise!
Here are some tips to get you started:
- Don’t over think it. Pick a topic, any topic that will add value to your client base or niche.
- Just start writing. It doesn’t have to be perfect, that is the great thing about a blog.
- Keep it fun and personal. Once you find your “voice” you really can have a lot of fun with your blog. The more personality it has the better. Obviously you don’t want to be over the top with “personality” or your opinion but you definitely want to come across as personable. (Can you feel my personality?
) - Start a list of topics. When you are out and about in your everyday life be on the look out for good topics and start compiling a list. It truly makes a world of difference.
- When you are in the mood to write…write! You can actually schedule when you want your blog to post. This is great when you are in the mood to write. Write three blogs, post one now and schedule three for later.
Now get out there and start blogging! Don’t forget Rome wasn’t built in day and the same applies for your business.
